Former Chelsea player Yuri Zhirkov has, in agreement with a lot of former players, current players, and fans, admitted that Chelsea star Mason Mount has a bright future ahead of him. The England international star was one of the shining lights at Stamford Bridge last summer as he put in a consistent display of fine performances both in the Premier League and in the Champions League.

The young midfielder has been receiving a lot of praise in recent months following his fine performances in a Blue shirt and many have now realized why he was one of Frank Lampard’s favorite players during his tenure as manager at the club.

Mount earned himself a call-up to the England national team where he joined up with the rest of the squad as they prepared for their UEFA Euros tournament some weeks ago and was also able to make the final squad for the tournament. He also started showing his brilliance on the pitch for the Three Lions and also earned himself some plaudits as well. Although England were not able to win the trophy in the final, Mount was one of those players who were ever-present when it comes to taking responsibility on the pitch.

And following the fine career he is having so far, Zhirkov has revealed that if he continues like this, he has the potential to become Chelsea captain in the future.

Zhirkov said that Mount, even though he is still a very young lad, is playing with a lot of maturity maturities already and is also proof that young players can also be stars regardless of their age. The former Chelsea man also added that Mount has already established himself as a future England star and will continue to put in his great performances that will earn him the captain’s armband at Stamford Bridge.
